We decided it would be a good idea to start doing a series of posts about safety in order to keep all of you as healthy as possible while playing the sport you love.
This month's tip will cover one of the most important, yet overlooked aspects of paintball, your mask.
A paintball player's mask is one of the most crucial safety implements. Yet, it is often seen as an annoyance to new players. Masks, especially cheaper ones, have a tendency to fog up during play. This gives newer players an immediate desire to remove them in order to clear the lens and catch some fresh air. However, this is highly dangerous and should never be done. Remember, it is a lot better to lose the game due to a foggy mask than it is to sustain a serious injury from getting shot with it off.
It is for this reason that we recommend dual-pane thermal lenses for every goggle system they are available in, and also promote the use of anti-fog sprays in order to keep fogging to a minimum. Less fog means more time playing, and less time fighting your mask during the game's most action-packed moments.
